Very positive reports emanating from Rock UK this week. The children are having a wonderful time and everyone (apart from Mrs Thingsaker who has an uncomfortable bed!) had a really good night of sleep. The photos show the children taking part in some team building activities.
Thank you to all parents who attended our e-safety workshop. Feedback from the workshop below:
134 people. 120 children, 7 mums, 6 staff, 1 governor.
Prior to the workshop 75% of attendees were worried about their family’s internet safety and social media usage.
Following the workshop 100% of attendees felt more confident about managing their family’s internet safety.
Really useful, especially parental controls.
Great course, very informative.
Very useful and informative.
Very useful – thank you.
Thank you to all who supported our netball charity match. Pictures and match report in the next newsletter. Nice to see we can still teach the children something in all areas of the curriculum!
A big thanks to everyone who took part in Saturday’s event. Here are some pictures from the official photographer.
In the recent Parent Forum, you asked for a Jargon Buster for Education. We provided one! Click on the parent forum and policies pages where you will find a file called ‘Pixies Hill Jargon Buster’!
We had some wonderful New Year staff training on a new phonics scheme we have begun to use called Read, Write, Inc. Phonics teaching is already pretty good across the school but we are hoping that introducing this scheme will put stronger blocks in place for spelling and vocabulary choices further up the school. Look out for blog updates and information on this as we are really excited to be sharing future knowledge, work and impacts of this work.
