Forest School Week 13

Today when we arrived at Box Moor Trust the leaders explained that we would be going to a different area of the woods and then to visit the pond. We spoke about special ways to keep ourselves safe when at the pond. The leaders then introduced the word ‘habitat’ and we discussed what it meant. We then listened to the book ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo’. We talked about how to treat the animals in the woods and pond and we spoke about what type of animals we might find. Next we walked to a different area in the woods, and were given the opportunity to search for minibeasts. We were given spoons and bug pots to collect the minibeasts that we found. After we had searched for minibeasts we went to the pond area where we were given nets to search for minibeasts living inside the pond. We listened to the rules and how to keep ourselves safe whilst pond dipping. Today was the first time it has rained whilst we are at forest school and we got soaking wet as it poured down with rain all day!!
