We have composed our own music piece using symbols to show high/ low pitches and long/short notes. We practised and performed our compositions in pairs.
We have mapped out and put actions to an existing explanation text about how beans grow.
In art, we have been learning the skill of collage and used coloured paper to build up layers to cover flower pictures.
We have been learning about repeated addition and arrays in maths which link to the introduction of multiplication . We have made arrays using counters and then written the matching number sentences.
We have learnt the difference between garden and wild plants and made tally charts to show how many types we found on the field. We found lots of daisies, buttercups, dandelions, brambles and nettles.
We have been learning about long and short sounds and have been exploring high and low pitch.
Thank you so much to all the parents who came in to talk about their jobs and skills they need. The children loved it!
In art we have been using tools to carve flowers and animals into a clay tile.
In science, we have been looking closely at flowers and dissecting them into different parts. We then labelled our own diagrams for our books.
In maths we have been learning the value of the tens and ones in numbers up to 50. We have made numbers using ‘base ten’ equipment
This week we have been reciting poems and performing them. We have learnt a spring poem, funny poem and also focused on rhyming words using musical instruments.

We enjoyed going outside to identify signs of spring today. We noted down what we could hear, see, small and feel.
We have started word processing skills in computing by typing the alphabet in lower case and upper case letters as well as having a go at typing a sentence about our Easter holidays.
After lunch, we enjoyed using ‘rainbow’ breathing to help us feel calm and relaxed.
In DT lessons, we have planned and created our own pop up pages for the story of Three little pigs. The children have used a sliding strip, pop up fold and spring techniques. We enjoyed looking at each other’s and gave them marks out of ten.
We have taken advantage of the lovely weather and enjoyed reading for pleasure in the sun!
We have been testing which material is the most waterproof to make Percy the park keeper an umbrella. We tested each material and kept the amount of time observed and amount of water dropped onto each one the same. We found out that plastic didn’t absorb any water so would be the best choice.
In RE, we have been investigating artefacts linked to Christianity and discussed the importance of each one.
We have been reading how to wash a woolly mammoth and have acted out each step in groups.
During history, we have been learning about the Queen and her Coronation ceremony. We have been lucky enough to have a look at some original newspapers dated June 1953! The children found it fascinating as did the adults.
What an amazing afternoon we had at the sports centre! Take a look at all the fun sports activities we had a go at.
In science, the children have made rain catchers to measure how much rainfall (in mm) we get over the next couple of weeks. They will record what they find out.
The children were excited to visit our local church to find out about baptism and christenings as well as have a look around at what they could see. Thank you for having us!
We loved looking at all the fantastic potato designs, making our own potato heads, creating a watercolour sunset picture and reading for pleasure.
During our PSHE lessons, we have been learning about how to take care of the environment through recycling and reusing household items. We enjoyed finding out about what goes in each bin at home and worked as a group to make a list for each one.
As part of our learning, the children thought of some interesting questions to ask our visitor Andrew Masters about what it’s like to be a Christian. They enjoyed listening to the answers!
The children have enjoyed learning to weave using material and weaving boards.
We painted symmetrical butterflies. We painted one side of the page and folded it in half.
We have been learning about different People Who Help Us; doctors, nurses, firefighters, police, builders, teachers and vets.
The challenge was to make an insect without glue. We used scissors and different folds.
We have learnt about the Festival of Light, Diwali. We made diva lamps using clay.
Lots of Halloween and Bonfire Night activities.
As a school we were very lucky to experience sending an object into space!
