We are learning how to take photos and then edit them using features on an iPad.
We have learnt how to care for our environment by recycling our rubbish. We have sorted pictures of rubbish into the correct bins.
We have learnt how to weave using paper first and then fabric onto weaving boards.
We have been learning the place value of numbers from 10-20 this week by using a range of maths resources. We have learnt there is one ten and some ones in each and 20 is made with two tens.
We have been creating repeating patterns using printing and made our own printing block with a sponge and peg to change the shape.
In maths, we have learnt the names of 3D shapes and sorted them according to their properties. We also used polydron to make 3D shapes and identified which 2D shapes are on the faces.
In geography, we are learning about the United Kingdom. We have labelled the countries and capital cities using atlases and Google earth to help us.
In science we are learning about materials. We have sorted objects by what they are made from and have described them using science vocabulary. We know what opaque, transparent and brittle means!
We were all very excited today to be wearing our Christmas jumpers ready for our Christmas dinner.
To finish off our English unit, we have written letters to Santa using a range of sentence starters as well as a formal address to send to the North Pole!

As part of our English work, we tried mince pies and gingerbread and described them using our senses. We enjoyed them just like the Jolly Postman did in our story!
We were very excited to see the snow today so we made our own snowy pictures using chalk.
Play rehearsals are well underway and we had our first performance to some parents and the whole school on Friday. We are excited for our next two shows this week!
We compared an old and new version of the well known tale Cinderella and then acted it out in groups. We included time words into our storytelling to help us use chronological order.
We have started to make our own repeating patterns in music using colours and then we assigned each colour to a sound using our bodies. Then we practised and performed them to the class.
As a treat for finishing our assessments, we used the ‘top marks’ website to play a range of maths games to consolidate our learning. We also had a team competition for number bonds to 10!
Our role play area has transformed into a Christmas post office which links to our English story ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’. The children have enjoyed using it during our child initiated time.
We have made Christmas puddings to go on the tree at St.johns church and also for our school tree in the top corridor. The children loved making them!
In science, we have been using our sense of taste to guess what fruit or vegetable we were trying. We then wrote words to describe each one.
We have been investigating how toys have changed over time and had lots of fun exploring old toys bought in by the parents. The children loved looking at them and had at go at playing with them.
We were very lucky to have Audrey (the school dog) visit us today, she even joined us for a maths lesson!

This week in maths, we have been using ‘part whole models’ to introduce addition. We have played a variety of games to explain splitting a number into two ‘parts’ and counting how many altogether to find the ‘whole’.
We have been using the values of kindness and thoughtfulness in RE when learning about giving to charity. We have put together special Christmas gifts boxes to support ‘operation Christmas child’.
We have introduced using beebots to give instructions. Today we used on screen beebots as a whole class and also had a turn using real ones in groups.
As part of our harvest festival assembly we retold the story of the little red hen. We also loved singing to all of the families who came to watch!
We have written our own shape poems all about autumn. We planned our ideas first then wrote them up in best to go on display.
