Awesome science

In science we have been learning about skeletons. Did you know there are 3 different types of skeletons? Endoskeleton, hydrostatic skeleton and a exoskeleton. We drew around our bodies to create a skeleton and added bones.

In English we have been reading Fantastic Mr Fox. We had to come up with questions to ask the farmers and then we done hot seat so we could ask the farmers our questions. We took it in turns to be the farmers and it was really funny.

Sock puppets

On Monday we had someone come into class and help us make puppets. First we made the body out of sock. We then used ping pong balls or foam to creat the eyes. It was a lot of fun. In the afternoon we watched a puppet show.

We have been focusing on yoga in our PE lessons. In our final session, we created our own superhero flows and taught them to our classmates! POW! KABLAM!

Science Investigation Work

On Monday 17th October with Mrs. McGowan and Mrs. Egerton, Year 2 were investigating solid materials and whether they could be manipulated or not. We checked to see if we could squash, bend, twist or stretch plastic bottles, pipe cleaners, socks, a bath towel, drinking straws, playdough, sponges and elastic bands. We noted our findings in a table in our books and found that playdough could be manipulated the most.

Design Technology

In DT this week we have been learning about fruits and vegetables. As part of our food lessons we have tasted three different pre made salads which all had a root vegetable in. The children rated each one using their senses and enjoyed trying coleslaw, beetroot and potato salad.

Pop up books

In DT lessons, we have planned and created our own pop up pages for the story of Three little pigs. The children have used a sliding strip, pop up fold and spring techniques. We enjoyed looking at each other’s and gave them marks out of ten.

Science experiment

We have been testing which material is the most waterproof to make Percy the park keeper an umbrella. We tested each material and kept the amount of time observed and amount of water dropped onto each one the same. We found out that plastic didn’t absorb any water so would be the best choice.

Recycling
