Baking cakes

This week, in order to understand how instructions work, year 4 tried making some cupcakes with minimal adult help. They were given the ingredients needed and the recipe before they began helping themselves to scales, eggs, flour, butter and sugar. Using their mathematical skills, the children worked in teams to decipher the scales, measure out what they needed and make their cakes. Despite one or two broken eggs, the results were pretty tasty!🧁
