As you are aware, schools are planning to open for some children on 1st June 2020.
In order to prepare yourselves and children for this, we have put together a parent pack of worksheets, videos and guidance, which will help with the transition back to school. All the documents are child friendly and designed to be fully inclusive allowing access for all children.
School is currently preparing to reopen to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1st June. Please read the letter in our ‘letters’ section of the school website. Please understand this process is a huge undertaking and covers many things which likely won’t cross most people’s minds such as flushing water systems and writing risk assessments covering the smallest of details. We are therefore unable to entertain specific requests regarding grouping arrangements for the time being given the tight timescales. A final decision on school reopening will not be taken by the Government until 28th May.
The school is currently closed due to the Covid19 crisis. We will, however, remain open to Key Worker families whose children currently attend the school. Please note that throughout this time, we will continue to follow advice provided by the DfE, the Police and Public Health England. Please see here for further details.
In the meantime, if you have any safeguarding or child protection concerns then please do not hesitate to contact the school office email@example.com and we will contact you back with brevity.
Just a reminder to all that you can see a glimpse of the work the children have been doing in the Year Group Class Blogs. We’ll try to keep them up to date.
Please note that we are following DfE advice regarding the Corona Virus. It is important to note that cases in the UK are very low. We are displaying appropriate posters around the school. Please see here to see the DfE advice www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19
Did you know that we are always making updates to the school website to keep it up to date! Do have a look around. We’ve recently added new policies, updated the E-safety page and the Governors will shortly refresh their page. We will also be uploading new front page photos soon!
It’s that time of year when we change displays around the school. Here is a sneaky peak/clue/picture as to what the new Values display will be about and this year, we’re offering a prize!
Before we break up for summer, worth having a look at the calendar to see what is happening across the next academic year. This will go live shortly.
We have updated the clubs page….fancy a bit of mindfulness and yoga? Click on the clubs link to find out more along with all the usual clubs that run across the autumn term.
The latest parent forum minutes can be found under the ‘parent info’ section of the school website.
There are some interesting team games afoot at Rock UK this week. All going well and children having a fantastic time as well as some memorable experiences and challenges.
We will shortly be sending out a letter confirming holiday dates. In the meantime, the Inset days for 2019-20 academic year are as follows (school will be closed on these days):
Monday 2nd September 2019
Monday 6th January (Occasional Day) 2020
Tuesday 7th January 2020
Monday 20th April 2020
Monday 20th July 2020
Tuesday 21st July 2020
Just a reminder to all parents that we are very much looking forward to Culture Day on Friday 10th May. We wrote a brief article about this in February’s newsletter. You do not need to do anything in preparation for the day – the children will each focus on a country for the day and will be learning about national anthems, flags, cookery, customs, etc. We hope to report on this in the April/May newsletter so watch this space!
For parents and carers awaiting our arrival back at school, we have now left the o2 and are on our way. Currently, our ETA is 23:20.
For those parents/carers who have collected at the o2: thank you very much for your patience and cooperation in unpleasant conditions to ensure the safety of all children when leaving such a crowded event.
Have a good weekend.
Mr Lawrence and Mrs Thingsaker.
After this evening’s performance, we will be putting all children onto the coach where it will be warmer and safer. We will then handover children to those parents who have notified us. Could we please ask parents to line up along the length of the coach in order to make this process as speedy and safe as possible.
You are looking for Barnetts Coach number 183 (in the windscreen) which should be in car park 1.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Mr Lawrence and Mrs Thingsaker
The very kind and helpful people at Young Voices have moved us into better seats. We are now downstairs behind the stage. Look for the banner!
Good afternoon! We have taken our seats in the o2. Look out for us upstairs and stage left!
A big thank you to everyone who helped out with the fair. It was a great evening and a high turnout. See the photos here!
In the recent Parent Forum, you asked for a Jargon Buster for Education. We provided one! Click on the parent forum and policies pages where you will find a file called ‘Pixies Hill Jargon Buster’!
