Special Educational Needs

admin

The school has a proven track record of identifying special educational needs and drafting individual plans (which we call ‘Passport Support Plans’) to personalise learning. Children are assessed to identify gaps in learning and set individual targets accordingly.  Children are also asked to identify a target for themselves so that they can take ownership and responsibility for their learning. These plans and targets are reviewed termly by our SEND leader, class teachers and teaching assistants. Special educational needs covers a broad spectrum of issues including a particular gift or talent in a subject, disabilities, medical conditions, motor issues, speech and language difficulties learning difficulties, autism and diagnosed conditions such as dyslexia or dyscalculia.

If you feel your child has a special requirement then please don’t hesitate to contact the class teacher in the first instance who will then liaise with our SEND Leader to make her aware and so she can provide support. If the circumstances cannot be met swiftly, then it might be best to arrange an appointment with our SEND leader (Mrs Rolfe), via the school office.
